the tech team.

When I joined REEF, I was one of the first designers hired and the first ever junior designer brought on. REEF traditionally did not hire juniors, but my manager decided to take a chance on me.

At one point... it was just the two of us, working on design sprints for a 17,000 person startup. This meant leading design decisions and advocating for our users across different scrum teams. I worked on projects spanning from consumer-facing mobile apps to internal enterprise software, and was considered the top manatee-spotter in the team.

I transitioned into a design + strategy role within the Studio team at REEF. REEF Studio serves as a launch pad for incubating new businesses & adding transformational capabilities to our existing offerings. This means small scrum teams and quick turnaround for speed of light validation or invalidation. The design thinking process... but faster than ever before.

Ok…..let’s get to the good stuff.

NBRHD Market

The vision is to have an omni-channel solution where restaurant-prepared meals and other goods can be ordered. NBRHD Market will allow consumers to directly order from REEF’s Kitchens and partner brands, bypassing third-party delivery platforms. The success of my initial proof concept helped determine the degree of need for engaging with third-party platforms.

Fun Fact: Made $500 worth of sales on first test day.

REEF Cloud

Ensure REEF, and its clients, can create and sell merchandise; like parking permits, and provide the facilities for consumers to discover and purchase that merchandise.

Fun Fact: Ask me about my biggest challenge that occurred when designing this platform.

Webpay

The spread of the COVID-19 virus, and the subsequent drop in demand for attended REEF parking services, highlighted a need for reduce operational costs while still providing value-added services to our clients. The REEF Mobile Pay-by-web product is part of a larger Parking Operations Virtualization initiative, the goal of which is to allow cost-effective, safe, remote operation of parking facilities.

Lightspeed

The current proposition is ‘convenience’ in that we want to deliver to customers quickly by leveraging our real estate proximity. Fast home delivery is not a differentiator (it does not set us apart from competitors like 7Now or GoPuff), but it can be one piece of a bigger, more connected, digital and physical experience.
